ABOUT US

Stemming from our shared love for Chinese loose leaf tea, we embarked on a mission to share its exquisite flavors and rich heritage with the world. Our journey led us to establish Wu Cha Tea, a partnership formed with a well-respected Houston tea store, known for its two decades of expertise in the tea industry. When the store's owner graciously offered to mentor us in launching our own tea business, we were filled with great excitement. Our mission is to share with the world the exceptional teas we have grown to love, hoping to inspire others to create their own cherished tea moments. Guided by the valuable insights of a tea industry veteran and fueled by the passion of two tea enthusiasts (alongside our feline companions), we strive to deliver a great cup of tea.

Meet the Team

Picture
Wenxing - Co-founder and Oolong aficionado
A photographer that can draw, a video gamer that writes software for a living, and most importantly an Oolong aficionado. Wenxing originally hails from the misty mountains of Nanchang, Jiangxi but now lives in Houston. Growing up surrounded by the aroma of loose leaf brewed by her parents, she preferred tea over candy or soda as her treat of choice. Yet, it wasn't until a chance encounter with the captivating world of oolong and pu'erh teas that her appreciation truly blossomed.
Wenxing then dove down a rabbit hole of complex flavors and ancient brewing traditions, igniting a passion that burns brighter than a dragon's breath. These days, she enjoys the mineral depths of Rock Oolongs, her all time favorite type of tea.

Justin - Co-founder and Guzzler of Pu'Erh
Justin began his adventure in real Chinese loose leaf tea mid way through 2023, with inspiration from many YouTube shorts creator, especially @jessesteahouse. Originally he was not a fan of tea, having only tried grocery store jasmine tea and American sweet and unsweet teas. But after being intrigued by Chinese loose leaf tea he found a local tea shop to give it another try. Blown away by wide variety of flavors that tea can naturally have, he wanted to explore more and more about tea. After spending a good deal of time trying teas at his local tea shops one of the owners approached and offered to help him set up a tea business. He jumped on the idea as it would not only allow him to learn more about tea but also share the teas he loves with more people.

Justin enjoys most Chinese loose leaf teas, but oolongs and especially aged Seng (raw) Pu’Erh hold a special place in his heart.

Beyond tea Justin enjoys his hobbies of 3d printing, cosplaying, and cooking. He is currently (updated Jan. 2024) printing a spear from Horizon Forbidden West, making a Zaku II Cosplay, and trying to cook a dish from every country in the world.

Fifth - Head of Human and Cat Resources
As Head of Human and Cat Resources, Fifth oversees the well-being of both our two-legged and four-legged employees. Her daily routine includes conducting morale-boosting purr sessions, ensuring adequate sunbeam distribution, and mediating disputes over the best napping spots. Fifth's unique perspective, shaped by her feline understanding of the world, has transformed Wu Cha Tea into a haven of harmony and productivity.
Milky - Marketing Intern
Milky, the purrfect intern and aspiring tea connoisseur, wasn't born with a silver spoon, but with a silver tea whisk! This fluffy intern extraordinaire traded catnaps for spreadsheets at WuChaTea.com. His days are filled with judging our finest teas, chasing laser pointers disguised as matcha whisks, and napping on keyboards. Don't be fooled by his adorable mittens – Milky's got ninja-like SEO skills and can write a haikus about dragonwell that'll leave you weak in the knees. So step aside, boring tea bags, the future of tea marketing is pawsitively purrfect, and it comes with a tiny pink nose and a penchant for tuna treats.

Frequently asked questions

  • What does Wu Cha mean?
    • In Chinese Wu means 5 and Cha means tea. When we are in the process of naming something we tend to use the (sometimes) temporary name Five/Fifth to refer to it until we come up with the actual name. Though, Fifth sometimes sticks, like in the case of Wu Cha. We would also like to defer any more questions on this topic to our Head of Human and Cat Resources Fifth.
